Municipal Attorney

Position Overview
The Municipal Attorney will provide legal counsel and representation for the municipality, focusing on zoning, land use, and public policy issues. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of municipal law and the ability to navigate complex legal challenges faced by local government. This is a transactional role/

Key Responsibilities

Provide legal advice to municipal officials and departments
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and legal documents
Represent the municipality in litigation and administrative hearings
Conduct legal research to support municipal policies and regulations
Advise on zoning, land use, and environmental law matters
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Engage in negotiations and mediation to resolve disputes
Prepare and present legal opinions on various municipal issues
Assist in the development of municipal policies and procedures

Qualifications

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
Active license to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction
Minimum of 2 years of experience in municipal law or related fields
Strong knowledge of zoning, land use, and public policy
Excellent legal research and writing skills
Proven experience in litigation and government relations
Ability to negotiate and mediate effectively
Familiarity with regulatory compliance and administrative law
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Commitment to public service and community engagement
